This research is motivated by the learning outcomes of students in class I TBP SUPM Waiheru Ambon who did not achieve the completeness value according to the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). The purpose of this study was to determine whether the application of the index card model (Index Card match) could improve learning outcomes identifying phytoplankton students in class I TBP SUPM Waiheru Ambon. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) lasts for 3 cycles carried out with planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting procedures. Data collected through observation, tests and documentation. Learning outcomes data obtained from the initial cycle where all students have not yet reached the KKM value or 100% are incomplete. However, in the next cycle students’ learning outcomes have reached 29 or 90,62% of students completeness. This shows that student learning outcomes after the application of the index card learning model can improve student learning outcomes in identifying phytoplankton. This is reasonable because departing from minimal results, began to increase in the first cycle to 6 or 18,75% of students graduated and then increased again in the second cycle to get results that is 17 or by 53,12% of students graduating until the third cycle to get 29 or 90,65% of students who complete and get a grade above the KKM. The constraints in the application of the learning of the index card model (index card matsh) require careful attention and a long time to complete the student group discussion assignments.
