Abstrak

This study aims to obtain a description of the forms of persona used by the author and to describe the social relationships between participants in the context of utterance as seen from the use of persona deixis in the novel Wanita Itu Adalah Ibu of Sori Siregar. The approach used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The data in this study are contained in the novel “Wanita Itu Adalah Ibu”. The research instrument used was a data card to record data that supported research activities such as recording sentences or quotations from novels that supported the problem to be analyzed. Data collection in this study uses library techniques by analyzing the contents. The result of the research by the novel Wanita Itu Adalah Ibu Sori Siregar includes the use of first person persona, second person persona, and third person persona deixis. The relation of speech characters applying the deixis persona, both the first person, the second person, and third person have functions that indicate the form of communication desired by the author, namely formal, intimate, intimate, santum, social strata position, and neutral relationships in communication between characters
